The Adicts, The Sound Of Music
Second album! Thee Adicts have moved out of their parents' basements and into a social housing flat. They learn to do dishes and adjust to blissful young domesticity. And they sing songs! About everyday things! Like food ("Chinese Takeaway"), whether or not to go out tonight ("Disco") and love ("How Sad")! This album is the sound of a band realising just how easy it is for them to do what they enjoy, and doing a good job of it. "How Sad" (like "England" before it) is about the most fun you can have with a refrain consisting only of vowels...unless you're Glenn Danzig or summat. Why deny yourself this? Oh, right. It's been outa print for years, and I had to buy a bootleg version from a forty year-old Czech gutterpunk.
