A-Ha, Hunting High And Low
When I steeled my will to the task of reviewing my entire collection, I knew there would be rough patches. Embarassing patches. Records I had no account for and could not justify owning under any circumstances. I just didn't think that the second album I'd review would be one of those records. How did this thing come to rest in my domicile? I think I remember picking it up for a quarter from Value Village, thinking that "Take On Me" would be a good addition to the 80's Cheese tape I was putting together. "Take On Me" turned out to be unacceptably scratched. Anyway. I'm listening to this thing right now, and it's not nearly as painful as I would expect. Thankfully, it's very easy to ignore; for some reason my mind keeps slipping over to Strong Bad, and how funny he is. Believe me, it's a lot better than actually having to pay attention to a song called "The Sun Always Shines On TV". In closing: this record makes me appreciate German Depeche Mode wannabes Camouflage a lot more, because it reminds me how easy it used to be for Europeans to make wussy synth-rock albums almost twenty years ago.
