Add N To (X), Loud Like Nature
Owright! This is a bit of fun. Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy, one might dare to say! Droning electro-funk with enough tempo hiccups, theremins and bleeps to keep you tweaking. Music to have sex to while wearing leather cowboy hat and wraparound shades! There's occasional mellow respite to keep things varied ("Party Bag" lives in a K-hole so the rest of us don't have to), which sometimes runs the risk of being forgettable and ignorable: "Pink Lights" and "Up The Punks" won't make much of an impression unless you're stoned, I'm guessing. But! By the end you're ready to party encore, and that's just what Add N To (X) do! The closing 1-2 punch of "Large Number" and "All Night Lazy" make you swagger stagger around your rec room like that Aphex Twin-looking dude in the fur jacket who gets high, stumbles around trying to dance at the clubs and collapses on the dancefloor. No foolin'. Dude's got one of those overpriced trucker's caps and the biggest pair of sunglasses this side of Elton John's bald spot. Crazy motherfucker. Anyway, the last track manages to evoke Stooges without sounding like them; speaking of which, Add N To (X) have been known to do a killer "Be Your Dog" live whilst holding the theremin out over the crowd to wang on. Wang on!
